CHICAGO – Avanta Ware, 18, was detained in Wisconsin on Friday afternoon, according to Chicago police. Ware will be extradited to Cook County to face murder charges in the death of Travell Miller, 33.
Miller was murdered while stopped in traffic on Chicago Avenue near Sacramento Boulevard on September 1. Ware is said to have gotten out of another car, walked up, and coldly fired into Millers’ vehicle.
According to family, Miller was hit four times while bending over to shield his 7-year-old daughter, who was in the passenger seat and was unharmed. They stated that authorities were looking into whether the gunshot was the result of road rage.
In late September, police identified Ware as the gunman and charged him with Miller’s murder. Ware was also wanted in Berwyn on two counts of carjacking.
