CHICAGO – A man was found shot in a crashed vehicle Tuesday in the Riverdale neighborhood. According to police, around 4:50 pm, the victim was discovered with a gunshot wound inside a crashed vehicle in the 100 block of East 133rd Street. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the lower body and was taken to Christ Hospital in critical condition.
CHICAGO – A man has been charged in the shooting of a 7-year-old boy who was on his way to church Sunday morning.
According to police, Kentrell Gayden, 22, has been charged with the attemped murder of a 7-year-old boy that was on his way to the Universal Community Church in the Roseland neighborhood.
Around 11:30 am on Sunday, the 7-year-old victim and his family were about to park their vehicle when they noticed Gayden allegedly breaking into their relative’s parked car. When Gayden was confronted he allegedly pulled a machine gun and fired on the family while they were in their vehicle. Police said the victim was shot in the leg and is expected to survive.
Heroic Chicago Police officers in the area responded to the shooting and arrested Gayden after a 40 minute chase.
WAUKEGAN, IL – A man was discovered shot to death inside a vehicle parked in the driveway of a Waukegan home early Monday.
According to police, officers responded to a call of shots fired at a home in the 1300 block of Chestnut Street in Waukegan around 12 am. On scene, officers found a male victim shot multiple times inside the driver’s seat of a vehicle parked in the driveway. Police said the victim was in his 40s. Police do not believe the shooting was random and are investigating.

GLENDALE HEIGHTS, IL – A teen from Alsip, Illinois, has been charged with two counts of attempted murder and one count of aggravated battery with a firearm.
According to the DuPage County State’s Attorney, on August 12, 2022, at approximately 8:30 pm, Nathan Gaytan, 16, and another unknown individual allegedly confronted the two victims on Army Trail Road. During the confrontation, Gayton and the unknown individual allegedly pointed guns at the victims who then retreated from the scene. Shortly after the incident, Gayton allegedly drove up and exited his vehicle and fired nine shots at the victims, with one of the victims being wounded in the arm and thigh. According to the victims, Gayton then fled the scene. Gayton was later arrested on August 18.
“It is alleged that for no reason whatsoever, Mr. Gaytan fired nine times at an innocent couple simply enjoying an evening stroll. Regardless of the age of the accused, violent gun crimes will not be tolerated in DuPage County and will be aggressively prosecuted. I thank the Glendale Heights Police Department and MERIT for their outstanding work in identifying Mr. Gaytan as the person allegedly responsible for this unprovoked attack. I also thank Assistant State’s Attorneys Joseph Lindt and Claudia Fantauzzo for their work in securing charges against this defendant,” Robert Berlin, DuPage County State’s Attorney, said in a statement.
A $500,000 dollar bond has been set for Gayton, who is expected back in court on September 16, 2022.
