Chicago Man Charged with Beating Transit Employee

CHICAGO – A Chicago man has been charged in the beating of a CTA employee on Wednesday in the East Garfield neighborhood.

According to Chicago police, on March 8, between 1:00-1:15 am, Curtis Washington, 37, of the 5100 block of W. Washington Blvd, battered a 40-year-old male transit employee and caused damage to the attendant booth on the train platform in the 3200 block of W. Lake St.  Responding officers quickly identified and arrested Washington around 1:20 am on scene.

Washington has been charged with one felony count of aggravated battery of a transit employee and one misdemeanor count of criminal damage to property less than $500.

Washington is scheduled to appear in bond court on March 9, 2023 at 2600 S. California.
