Joliet Man Charged with Nine Counts of Attempted Murder and Other Felonies

CHICAGO – A Joliet man was arrested Tuesday for kidnapping and attempted murder in the Calumet Park area.

According to Chicago police, 43-year-old Steven Wade, of the 1500 block of Queens Lace Dr., Joliet, Illinois, was arrested on February 28, 2023, at approximately 2:13 am, in the 12900 block of S. Peoria St.

Police said that Wade was identified as the alleged offender who unlawfully entered a residence in the 12900 block of S. Peoria St. around 1:15 am, and restrained a 44-year-old female and a 21-year-old male at gunpoint. Wade allegedly then opened fire in the direction of responding officers.  Police said no one was struck by gunfire.  Wade was then taken into custody and charged with nine felony counts of attempted murder and other forcible felony, two felony counts of kidnapping and discharge of a firearm, and two felony counts of unlawful restraint

Wade will appear for a bond hearing at 2600 S. California Ave on March 2, 2023.
