CLEVELAND – The Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Chicago Bulls in overtime Monday 145-134 with Cavs’ shooting guard Donovan Mitchell, Jr, making a record 71 points matching the eighth highest in league history for a player in a single game.  Big deal, I know most of my readers are asking, if the record is not in the top three, why mention it?  Mitchell is not Wilt Chamberlain with 100 points in one game.

The Bulls had a 21 point lead in the bottom of the second quarter which was chipped away by Mitchell and the Cavs.  Mitchell intentionally missed free throws to bring in overtime play at 130-128.  Mitchell then made a perfect grab and shot on the rebound to tie the score with three seconds left on the clock.  The Bulls then failed a desperate 3-pointer to close out regular play.

Bulls face the Brooklyn Nets at the United Center on Wednesday, January 4, at 7:00 PM
