DETROIT – The Detroit Lions battered the Bears into a 41-10 loss in Detroit on Sunday.  The Bears were nearly scoreless in the last three quarters with the offense only making 90 yards and five first downs.  The beleaguered defense gave up five touchdown drives and allowed 504 yards of total offense to the Lions.  Lions running backs Jamaal Williams and D’Andre Swift totaled 222 yards and 33 carries.

However, QB Justin Fields led the Bears with 132 rushing yards on 10 carries.  Fields also surpassed Michael Vick’s 1,039 rushing yards record with a 31-yard run in the opening drive.  Fields also completed seven of 21 pass attempts for 75 yards along with a completed touchdown pass and an interception.

Lions QB Jared Goff completed 21 of 29 passes for 255 yards and three touchdowns.  The Lions tied the game in the first quarter at 7-7.  In the second quarter the Lions scored a second touchdown giving them a 14-10 lead with another connection between Goff and tight end Brock Wright to advance the Lions to 21-10 at the bottom of the first half.

The second half continued to be dominated by the Lions with a scoring run in the kickoff of the second half bringing them to 31-10.  In the later part of the third quarter a touchdown pass to Swift sealed the fate of the Bears at 38-10.  A field goal in the final three minutes of the game was the final nail sending the Bears back to Chicago on their shields at 41-10.

Bears finish out the regular season with the Vikings at Soldier Field on Sunday, January 8 at 12:00 pm.
