CHICAGO – A woman who watched her former boyfriend murder six members of his family at their Chicago home and then helped steal their property was sentenced Tuesday to 25 years in prison. According to prosecutors, 25-year-old Jafeth Ramos pleaded guilty to armed robbery and agreed to testify against her former boyfriend, Diego Uribe Cruz. Uribe Cruz received a life sentence in November after being found guilty on six counts of first-degree murder.

In February of 2016, Uribe Cruz murdered six members of his family in their Gage Park home on Chicago’s Southwest Side while Ramos watched. According to prosecutors, Uribe Cruz shot his aunt, Maria Martinez, 32, after attempting to rob her on February 4, 2016. To eliminate witnesses, Uribe Cruz then went on to stab Martinez’s sons, ages 10 and 13, to death. Uribe Cruz then stabbed and beat to death another relative in the home. The couple then stole property from the home and were arrested in May of 2016.
