Indiana State Police said the unthinkable crash occurred early Friday around 2 am.  Witnesses recounted that the semi-truck went over the bridge at the 6.5 mile marker and burst into flames.  A video shows the semi dangling between the westbound and eastbound lanes.

When responding officers arrived on scene they assumed the UPS driver was trapped in the submerged cab but later found that he miraculously escaped the death cab and was found on a concrete bridge pillar where he was later rescued.  The driver was not seriously injured and was transported to an area hospital.  The driver was identified as 32-year-old Marc Rupert of Lansing, IL.

The crash is still under investigation.
