CHICAGO — Three 19-year-old men from Calumet City have been charged with throwing fireworks at Chicago Police Department vehicles on Monday.
According to CPD: Jiovanni Araujo, Yair Cruz-Roman, and Guillermo Mota Jr., have been charged with two counts of aggravated battery of a peace officer after allegedly tossing pyrotechnic objects at several police vehicles around 4:00 am in the 200 block of North Columbus Drive.
Two CPD officers were wounded in the attack. CPD also said the windshield and headlights of their squad car were damaged.
Araujo also faces one count of criminal damage to government property under $500. Cruz-Roman was also charged with disorderly conduct for failing to disperse. Mota was also charged with one misdemeanor.
