CHICAGO – A pregnant mother was shot to death by two gunmen while in a car parked outside her home.

According to Chicago police, Derricka Patrick, 29, was shot in a parked car outside her home Wednesday night around 7:00 p.m. in the 7400 block of South Vincennes Avenue.  Police reports indicate that Patrick was waiting in the car for her 15-year-old niece, who was picking up a cake inside the home, when gunshots rang out killing Patrick.  Patrick, and her unborn child, were later pronounced dead at University of Chicago Medical Center.

Investigators said the two gunmen were caught on surveillance cameras firing into Patrick’s cars.

“We have some video evidence that supports that two individuals did this and we need them identified. We haven’t pushed out any videos yet of those suspects. But we definitely need some help from the community” CPD said in a statement.

Police are asking for any information related to the shooting.  Anonymous tips can be submitted to cpdtip.com.
