Chicago Cites 26 Businesses For Violating Proof Of Vaccination Order

CHICAGO – The Chicago Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection has fined 6 businesses and 10 restaurants for violating Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s proof of vaccination order which requires patrons to present vaccination papers in order to be served.

Lightfoot’s proof of vaccination order went into effect January 3 and requires patrons to present vaccination papers in restaurants, bars, and gyms before dining, drinking, and exercising indoors.

According to the Chicago Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection, issued 32 citations to 16 businesses that failed to ask patrons for their papers.  Each violation can trigger a fine between $100 and $10,000 with possibility of closure.

A source in the Chicago Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection hinted that they would seek the highest fine to increase revenue for the City.
