ORLAND PARK, IL — A Chicago man allegedly stole a $12,500 necklace from Zevar Jewelers in Orland Square Mall last June.
According to Orland Park police, on June 19, 2021, Zevar Jewelers reported that a male suspect nabbed a neckless. Investigators discovered that the suspect allegedly cased the store before the robbery and returned on two other occasions to inspect the neckless. On his third and final visit, the suspect gave a fake name and phone number and requested to inspect the neckless. Upon placing the neckless around his neck, the suspect fled the mall in a Pontiac minivan.
According to Orland Park police, in cooperation with Norridge police, it was discovered that the suspect was involved in several jewelry store thefts in the Chicago area. Norridge police assisted in identifying the suspect as 29-year-old Aaron Hicks of Chicago.
Chicago police reported that Hicks was taken into custody on December 24 and transported to Branch 1 Courthouse and held on a $20,000 bond.
Hicks is expected back in court on January 12.
