Warner Chappell Music Purchases Bowie Catalog

NEW YORK — Warner Chappell Music, subsidiary of Warner Music Group, announced January 3 that it has purchased the music catalog of the late David Bowie.

The catalog consists of music created by Bowie during the 1960’s until his death in 2016.  The purchase includes more than 400 songs on 26 studio albums, 1 posthumous studio album, two studio albums from Bowie’s hard rock supergroup Tin Machine, and other various projects.

David Bowie, born David Robert Jones in London on January 8, 1947, would become one of the most acclaimed English singer-songwriters in the 20th century.  Bowie is considered one of the top 10 most influential musicians of the 20th century especially in his ability to reinvent his professional persona, music style, and visual presentation.  Bowie was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1996.
