SPRINGFIELD, IL – According to the latest census figures for Illinois, nearly 122,000 residents have left the state.
According to the data, the net loss of 122,000 inhabitants has not been seen since the year 2000. Population loss is due to residents fleeing the state and a lower number of people migrating to live in Illinois.
Population increases in Illinois included 2,800 net natural births minus deaths and a 5,800 net increase in foreign immigration.
