Unabomber Transferred To Prison Medical Facility

DENVER – The U.S. Bureau of Prisons announced Thursday that Theodore “Ted” Kaczynski, 79, was moved to the Federal Medical Center Butner medical center in eastern North Carolina.

Kaczynski, aka The Unabomber, is serving a life sentence without parole following his 1996 arrest and plea of guilty to setting 16 explosions that killed three people and injured 23 others across the United States between 1978 and 1995.

The FMC Butner, in North Carolina’s Granville County offers medical services for prisoners including oncology, surgery, neurodiagnostic and dialysis. It opened an advanced care unit and a hospice unit in 2010.
