CHICAGO — A Chicago man has been charged with the December 1 slaying of Rae Park, 59, in Lincoln Park.
According to Cook County prosecutors, Julius Flowers, 23, has been charged with one felony count of first-degree murder and one felony count of robbery with a firearm.
According to police, Flowers was arrested after allegedly carjacking a driver at gunpoint in Rogers Park the same day Rae Park was found shot to death in Lincoln Park. Under interrogation, Flowers confessed to the murder of Rae Park.
Park was walking out of his apartment building to his minivan at about 7 a.m. when a four-door sedan pulled up to next to Park near an alley in the 2600 block of West Catalpa Street. Flowers allegedly exited the sedan and shot Park after an attempted robbery. Park was later pronounced dead at Saint Francis Hospital, according to investigators.
Flowers was ordered held without bail.
