Thursday: 1 Murdered, 8 Shot In Chicago

CHICAGO — In gunshots in Chicago on Thursday, one person was murdered and eight others were wounded.

According to Chicago police, a man was murdered outside a garage in Avalon Park on Chicago’s South Side.  Two gunmen accosted the victim, 48, as he stepped out of his garage in the 8300 block of South Blackstone Avenue at 6:30 a.m.  The gunmen shot the victim multiple times.  The victim’s identity has not been released.

Two males, ages 23 and 28, were heading home at 12:15 a.m. in the 1700 block of West 46th Street when they were shot by someone in a black vehicle.  The 23-year-old victim was shot in the leg, while the 28-year-old was wounded in the thigh, leg, and buttocks, according to CPD

At 1:10 p.m., another 23-year-old victim on a sidewalk in the 1600 block of West 81st Street when a car approached and someone inside opened fire, striking him in the head and chest.  The victim is listed in critical condition, according to CPD.

In a similar incident, an 18-year-old guy was on a sidewalk in the 2800 block of West 43rd Street about five minutes later when a car came and someone inside opened fire, injuring the victim in the head and chest.  The victim is listed in critical condition, according to CPD.

Four more people were injured in gunshots throughout the city on Thursday.
