HIGHLAND PARK, IL — Racist and anti-Semitic graffiti was discovered on a synagogue in Highland Park last week.

A racial slur and a message disparaging Black and Jewish people was discovered on a wall outside the Central Avenue Synagogue, 874 Central Ave., sometime before Nov. 20, according to Highland Park Deputy Police Chief Bill Bonaguidi.

According to Bonaguidi, the graffiti appeared to have been done with a marker and was written across five different bricks.

The incident is being investigated as a hate crime.
