CHICAGO – On Monday, the Chicago White Sox will hold a special memorial for the late Minnie Minoso, aka “Mr. White Sox”, on his birthday.
The ceremony will take place near the Old Comiskey Park home plate plaque on Monday, Nov. 29 at 10:30 a.m.
Minoso, who passed away in 2015, broke the color barrier in Chicago baseball in 1951, when he made his debut with the White Sox and hit a home run in his first at-bat. Minoso would go on to be a seven-time All-Star.
