CHICAGO – Robert Drummond, 21, of Chicago has been charged with first-degree murder in the brutal death of Yarianna Wheeler, a 19-year-old pregnant woman whose body was discovered in Lake Michigan in August.
According to investigators, on Aug 15 a fisherman noticed Wheeler floating in the lake three miles southeast of Waukegan Harbor.
According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, an autopsy revealed that Wheeler had been stabbed multiple times. Wheeler was identified by a composite sketch. Detectives were able to identify a person of interest after obtaining additional information and clues from her home.
According to investigators, Wheeler met Drummond near Chicago’s Oakwood Beach where some of Wheeler’s belongings and other evidence was discovered. The homicide case has now been transferred to Chicago police.
