LEMONT, IL — Human remains were discovered Friday at a DuPage County forest preserve and may be linked to missing United Airlines executive Jake Cefolia.
The remains were discovered by contractors working at the preserve, according to DuPage Forest Preserve District Police. The remains were discovered south of the Waterfall Glen youth group campground, and authorities say they cannot be identified visually.
The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County Law Enforcement Department is leading the death investigation, but the Elmhurst Police Department has also been notified because Cefolia was reported missing on August 8, 2020.
Cefolia, 49, was last seen at a gas station in Elmhurst on the morning of August 7, 2020. His ex-wife called 911 the next afternoon, the same day Cefolia’s car was discovered at the forest preserve.
