O’Hare Airport: Two Loaded Weapons Found In Carry-On Bags

CHICAGO — Two handguns were intercepted by Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers at O’Hare International Airport on Wednesday.  The two incidents occurred around 6:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m., according to authorities.

Passengers presented their carry-on bags for screening in both cases, and TSA officers detected the firearms on the X-ray.  According to TSA, both firearms were loaded.

Chicago police were contacted for further action, and the individuals may be arrested and charged with crimes.

The TSA has stated that travelers who bring firearms to a checkpoint will face civil penalties.  According to TSA, a typical first offense for carrying a loaded handgun into a checkpoint is $4,100.
