SPRINGFIELD, IL – While many individuals and small businesses are still struggling to survive due to COVID-19 policies in Illinois, billionaire Democrat Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker reported an adjusted gross income of roughly $5.1 million in 2020. This is nearly double what Pritzker reported in 2019.
According to the Pritzker campaign, the Governor paid $529,104 in federal taxes on personal income and $230,643 to the state of Illinois.
The released documents, which are the first few pages of Pritzker’s federal and state tax forms, show only a small percentage of his fortune. The Chicago Times estimates Pritzker’s net worth to be around $3.9 billion. Pritzker’s wealth stems from his share of the Hyatt hotel empire, which he inherited, and his former partnership in the private equity firm The Pritzker Group.
The Pritzker campaign has refused to release tax documents related to Pritzker’s trust fund which holds most of his assets.
Pritzker, who is running for reelection in 2022, contributed $35 million of his own funds to his campaign earlier this year.
