CHICAGO — On Sunday, the Chicago Sky defeated the Phoenix Mercury 91-77 in Game 1 of the five-game championship series. That is when Lightfoot rushed to Twitter to bet Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego that the Sky would take the series. Lightfoot wagered baked goods and beer from South Side women-owned companies.
Gallego accepted, matching the wager with merchandise from Phoenix-based women-owned businesses. The second game is scheduled for Wednesday in Phoenix.
By the way, as of Oct 1, CPD reported the number of shootings in Chicago is up more than 10% this year compared to last, with 3,419 victims from 2,726 occurrences so far. Hope Mayor Lightfoot enjoys the baked goods.
