CALUMET CITY, IL — A vehicle that crashed into a bus stop and then continued on to an adjacent parking lot in Calumet City struck three people, one fatally.
At around 2 p.m. Thursday, Calumet City police responded to a report of a pedestrian traffic crash at the intersection of Sibley Boulevard and Torrence Avenue. At the scene, three people were found. According to police, two of the victims were pedestrians at a bus stop, and the third was a construction worker working in a nearby parking lot.
On the scene, one of the pedestrians was pronounced dead and two other people who were injured were taken to a nearby hospital.
According to police, a single vehicle left the roadway and struck the bus stop near the intersection where the two pedestrians were standing. The vehicle then continued into the adjacent parking lot and struck a construction worker.
