HAVANA — Thousands of Cubans have taken to the streets to demand that the country’s communist dictatorship be overthrown. Officials from both parties in the United States issued statements on social media expressing their support for the protests and solidarity with the Cuban people. Protesters can also be heard chanting “we are not afraid.” in footage shared by the group. Cuba’s regime, according to Florida Congresswoman Maria Elvira Salazar, is turning off the internet on the island. Salazar wrote, “The Castro dictatorship doesn’t want the world to see what’s happening . . . Please SHARE & stand with these freedom fighters!”
There have been reports the communist regime is shutting down internet across Cuba.
