CHICAGO — Over the weekend in Austin, a man fatally gunned down a woman and wounded two other men before being shot by a concealed-carry holder, according to Chicago police.
In the July 4 incident, criminal Calvin Gonnigan, 34, is charged with one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder, and one count of aggravated assault with a firearm, according to Chicago police.
Gonnigan opened fire in the first block of North Menard Avenue around 10:45 p.m., striking Janina Ford, 45, in the head, according to CPD.
According to police, two men, 32 and 49 years old, were also shot.
A 49-year-old male witness with a concealed-carry license pulled out his own weapon and fired shots at Gonnigan, striking him in the arm and hip, according to CPD.
