CHICAGO — Dom’s Kitchen and Market, a new type of grocery shop, will debut in Chicago’s Lincoln Park area on Tuesday.  The founder of Mariano’s is opening Dom’s Kitchen & Market at Diversey Parkway and Halsted Street, but don’t anticipate a standard grocery shop.

Dom’s is one-third the size of a regular grocery shop, at around 17,000 square feet.  Prepared foods and places to dine, drink, or attend a wine tasting or cookery demonstration take up a major percentage of the space.  Dom’s will focus on specialty items and cater to busy consumers who want the option to cook at home, take out prepared foods, or eat on-site.

Fresh fruit and meat sections, as well as a bakery with goods from local businesses, will be available to customers.  Two more locations are planned in the future.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony with Mayor Lori Lightfoot will take place at 10 a.m.
